Apex Skills

Methodology

How Apex Skills reports practice results

A result describes the activity you completed

Each game computes the measures shown in its result panel from the actions recorded during that run. Time-based games report elapsed time or a rate derived from it; accuracy-based games compare correct actions with attempted actions; memory and sequence games report the level or sequence reached. Personal bests and the Progress view compare your saved scores on the same device and browser; they use local browser storage rather than an account or shared score database.

Typing scores

For the typing test, net WPM is the number of correctly matched characters divided by five, then divided by elapsed minutes; the displayed result is rounded to a whole number. The five-character unit is a conventional way to normalize a word unit, rather than a count of dictionary words. Raw WPM uses all typed characters in the same formula. Accuracy is correctly matched characters divided by all typed characters, expressed as a rounded percentage.

This means the score reflects the selected passage, duration, and corrections made in that specific run. It is a useful repeat-practice measure, not a claim about general productivity or typing ability in every setting.

Timing and device limits

Browser measurements begin and end around events the browser receives. Input hardware, display refresh behavior, operating-system scheduling, browser work, battery state, accessibility tools, and latency can all affect a timing result. A fast response in a browser game is not a laboratory reaction-time measurement. Compare results using the same device and setup when possible, and use multiple runs instead of treating a single best score as definitive.

No population percentile claim

We do not publish a percentile or a statement that a score beats a share of people. Doing that responsibly would require a documented, representative dataset collected with matching game rules and conditions. Until such a dataset exists and its limits are disclosed, the meaningful comparison available here is your own history.
